Srinagar, Nov 12 (KNO): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday urged the Delhi government to conduct a fair and transparent investigation into the recent Delhi car blast, warning that any proven involvement of Kashmiri doctors would be “fatal and deeply unfortunate” for the region. Addressing a gathering of party workers at PDP headquarters in Srinagar, Mehbooba, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), condemned the attack and called for justice to be pursued without bias. “There are no words to condemn the Red Fort blast. If reports about the involvement of Kashmiri doctors turn out to be true, it will be devastating for our people. Doctors are the cream of our society and such incidents will only harm Kashmir’s image,” she said. She also cautioned authorities against harassing the families of those being questioned. “The government should punish those involved, but don’t drag innocent family members into it. A crime has not yet been proven, yet parents and siblings are being taken for questioning. This is not justice,” Mehbooba said. Calling for restraint and transparency, the PDP chief said, “The blast occurred in Delhi, but raids are being conducted in Kashmir. I request the Delhi government to ensure that this investigation does not turn into a campaign of persecution.” Reiterating her party’s long-held position, she added, “The PDP has always stood for peaceful resolution and fairness. Whether in alliance with Congress or BJP, our stand has remained consistent peace, dialogue and justice are the only way forward.”—(KNO)
